New Couch
Well, I said that our living room was undergoing some changes, and today I’m going to share one of those BIG updates to the room. I shared how our living area has previously looked in this post. Our sweet old couch was our very first purchase as a newly-married couple, and after 4 years and 3 dogs, it was showing wear and tear, the microfiber was a fur-magnet, and it just wasn’t our style anymore. It was time for a new sofa!
For my birthday this past summer, my wonderful hubby let me pick out a new sofa- anything I liked! While we had never really considered ourselves fans of leather furniture before, the practicality and timelessness of leather finally won us over. So I knew leather was the way to go. I also wanted something that was tailored with clean lines, and a fresh but classic look. Out sofa-shopping one day, my hubby suggested we pop into a locally-owned leather furniture store. There in the back, I saw exactly what I wanted! We chose a dark brown Brompton leather. This type of leather is tanned in Italy and is the same leather that Restoration Hardware uses on much of their furniture. Once the sofa arrived, I loved it even more than I did in the store! And what I love about it is that it will become more beautiful with age.
What do you think? Do you like the upgrade? We are very happy with our new addition to the room! Now I have plans up my sleeve to replace the ottoman… so stay tuned!:)
I like how the couches look on the area rug with the wood floor. Nice room!nn1
I love your living room! The couch was a great addition. I convinced Jason to get us leather couches when we first got married because of the easy care. Now with the kids he is thanking me.
We too have 3 dogs and I have found that leather or certain fabrics only work well for our pups to not leave their fur on the furniture. Not that they’re allowed on the furniture (wink).
Your blog is lovely!
I LOVE IT!!! When you get your new ottoman, send me pics and lets do a post update on your ‘new’ living room!! xoxo shelli
Love the new couch, I generally prefer fabric, but when it is in a classic style like that I think leather is the only way to go + those couches last forever, can be put in so many different style rooms, etc.
